accessiBe recently reached a non-admission settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Though we disagree with the FTC’s claims and characterizations, which we believe were largely based on flawed testing methodologies and outdated information, we decided to settle as a strategic choice to avoid a lengthy legal process.
This will enable us to continue to prioritize our partners and clients while focusing on our core mission: Making digital experiences accessible for everyone.

Our response to the FTC settlement
accessiBe’s technology is reliable and effective The FTC’s complaint didn’t challenge our technology’s ability to render websites compliant with the ADA. The allegations focused on endorsement disclosure and caveats regarding WCAG conformance claims.
We respectfully disagree with the allegations accessiBe is not admitting to any of the FTC’s claims, which were largely based on outdated information from 2019-2022. We reviewed the claims thoroughly with third-party experts and were unable to reproduce many of the alleged errors.
The FTC may have utilized flawed testing methodologies Our internal team of developers and accessibility experts, together with third-party experts we hired, noted significant concerns with the testing methodologies possibly used by the FTC in its inspection process.
